Road trips are the easiest way to travel when vacationing with pets. You can easily pack everything you need, you can stop anytime you need to, and you have more pet-friendly options along the way.
There are so many great hotel chains that are no exclusively pet-friendly, rest stops and gas stations with pet parks, and pet-friendly excursions that make the trip fun for all.
One of my favorite tips is to prepare pets long before your first road trip to enjoy time in the car. If you start when they are a puppy or kitten your likelihood of successful pet travel increases. While most pets love to travel there are some that get carsick, nervous, or just don’t care to travel. Test with a short trip about town or even overnight to see how your pet handles the ride, hotel, and life on the road.
