Elevate Your Spooky Season with Pet-Inspired Decor that Blends Style and Whimsy

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Is that because I am a cat or because decorating for Halloween is so much fun? I’m gonna go with both.
When it comes to chic Halloween decor ideas for pet lovers, I have a few ideas up my sleeve. Every Halloween I like to switch it up a bit, choosing a different theme, a new inspiration piece, or planning a Halloween party. Let’s explore Halloween decorating from a new point of view and inspire you to create your own amazing decor with a pet-themed twist.
One of my favorite holiday design tricks is to mix everyday items with holiday items. This makes holiday decor ‘feel’ more like your own style, gives you a great starting place, and it reduces the need to store your everyday items away. Items such as candlesticks, centerpiece bowls, and mantel decor can stay. Simply add seasonal accents to bring them into the design. The combination of everyday and seasonal decor is fun and easy to do.
Make Your Halloween Decor Your Own With Personal Touches!
Another great tip is to build your Halloween decor collection a little bigger every year, adding just a few new elements, giving new life to your collection. Add a set of great lanterns, a piece of art or trendy velvet pumpkins. Whatever items get you excited about unwrapping your Halloween decor stash. It should also be noted, that when you add a piece or two and use everyday decor items, you not only preserve your budget, but your decor can expand to more places in your home.
I often choose a new item or embrace a relic that becomes my focal point for the season. This sets the tone for the decor and helps to keep me focused. Every decor element ties back to the focal point which really helps to bring the entire space together. Don’t worry about being so matchy, matchy – simply use your focal point as a guide when choosing colors, design elements and even the everyday decor, so you know they work well together.
That brings another important design tip, never buy all pieces in a collection of matching decor elements, whether they are paper or more permanent decor. This does not give your design enough balance, scale and dimension to come together. Choose your favorite pieces from the collection and then seek to find decor elements that work well with the collection. Look for pieces in a different scale from the collection, solid colors, and simple prints that bring out the pattern or color story.
Good Decor Is In The Details!
Good design results in decor that says Halloween is here, but great design comes together when your space has balance, cohesiveness, and unique details that are your own. This is a great time to introduce a pet themed sign, great dog Halloween napkins, or trickle small black cat figurines here and there. While you can add any decor elements that represent your personal style, you are on a pet website, so I just assume that dogs, cats or all pets might be your vibe!
Whether you’re inspired by black cats, ghost dogs, or skeleton dog walkers, there are so many great Halloween themes that lend themselves to touches of fun pet decor. Don’t forget to decorate small spaces such as the powder bath, front entry, and kitchen island to create small decor surprises. You might even consider creating a Halloween dog or cat space with a Halloween pet bed, bowls, rug, toys, sign and of course Halloween pet treats.
To inspire you, here are a few great Pet Halloween Decor Themes that are trending right now. Personally I am in design lust with the ‘Witch and Cat’ theme, but that is just me. Which is your fav?
