I cannot lie, the wicker swing chairs caught my eye, and I will before the week is done find my way onto one of them. Greeted with a chilled welcome drink, a gentle Dominican breeze and a quick check-in, I knew we picked the right spot.
From the moment we booked, the Canine Concierge service at Melia Punta Cana had everything running smoothly. A short walk to our room across the lush grounds listening to screaming, meows of the resident peacocks, oh my this is going to be a fun week. We head up the stairs and into our spacious rooms and of course I headed right to the balcony to check out the view and yes those peacocks were still at it, lucky they are pretty. I am ready to get back outside and explore the grounds, so I let out a little bark to kick things up a bit.
Tropical pink poo bags in hand, we headed out the door to explore. We have the option to jump on the shuttle, but we opted for the path to see what we can see. A bit of a trip from our room to the beach, but it was the best walk ever. The path meandered through the topical flowers, lush greens and palm trees. A few stops to sniff and tinkle and we were at the beach. A tug of the leash and we were at the water’s edge. My favorite tree on the grounds has a sign that says ‘hug me,’ my kinda place.
The resort has a fitness and wellness focus for those who like to spend their vacation doing healthy things from yoga and a gym to beach volleyball and bikes. And four shimmering outdoor pools, swim‑up bars and private sun beds for those of us who choose to just chill on vacation. I have to admit the pool fitness hour was quite a sight and the music was fantastic. Pups are allowed just about everywhere on the grounds except the spa, gym, and some indoor spaces.
