What are you plans for St. Patrick’s Day this year? Green beer at a local place, walking in the St. Patrick’s Day parade or maybe snuggling on the sofa watching a great flick. No matter what your plans are, we pet your 4-legged pal is part of them. Legend has it that the boy who would become St. Patrick was enslaved by captures with his sheepdog by his side. This friendship was said to be a factor in his survival. While this story may only be legend, we are quite sure the companionship made the difference. We challenged our team to share their favorite things to do with their pets on such a lucky holiday. Here is what made the list:

  1. Dress for success, ear green to impress!
  2. Join a pup crawl
  3. Participate in the St. Patrick’s Day parade
  4. Make and share St. Patrick’s Day pet cookies or treats
  5. Read books at a local school with pet in tow
  6. Create a St. Patrick’s Day set and do a photo shoot
  7. Send St. Patrick’s Day cards
  8. Take a long hike to welcome in Spring dressed in green of course

Dress for success, ear green to impress!

Success equals something green and that is quite easy for pets and people alike, try matching graphic tees, coordinating shirts & collars or a full out lucky costume. A touch of green will keep the pinches away, but we hope it won’t stop wet kisses and wagging tails.

Join a Pup Crawl!

A pup crawl is just like a pub crawl, but accompanied by a 4 legged friend. Downtowns across the states organize pup crawls that no only welcome pups, they embrace them. Sign up to participate, outfit yourselves in a little something green and have a great time. If there is not an organized pub crawl in your area, create your own and pick local pubs and bars that are pet-friendly.

Participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

If you are a lucky one to have an organized St. Patrick’s Day parade in your area join in. If there is not a call for pets & people, consider creating a float with a local animal shelter, veterinarian clicic or pet rescue outfit. It will bring awareness of your cause and give pet and pet owners a fun activity to do together.

Make and share St. Patrick’s Day pet cookies or treats!
